Travelling in Hispanoamérica!
The opportunity to spend the next 3 months travelling across Hispanoamérica...who would not want to be in my shoes?!!?

My first stop is España. The MC office is in the centre of beautiful Madrid. The weather has been great and in a few hours we'll be heading to our conference site in the mountains!

Interesting thing about my travels so far? Seeing my name written in Spanish (see picture) :)

More postings to come!

GN team dinners
Our lovely directors are about to take off in country visits if they haven't already (Araz left to Spain Friday last week and Mairi was already in Ireland), and to get to know more of their GNs we are having GN team dinners. Directors and country couches are amazingly busy preparing their country visits, they have lots of meetings, their flights are booked, their visas in process, they are ready to go. We will miss them so much... Teilingerstraat 126 will look a bit empty.

The Origins of Everyday Starts Today

Many of you may have already seen our team stand... have any of you wondered where it comes from???

Did AI employ a team of external consultants to develop our team stand? Did we get these consultants to conduct an indepth study of different options and come back with us on which options received the most favourable responses? Did we employ graphic designers to come up with a cool logo???

NO!!!

It was a summers day in Tuscany, with the AI team sitting around discussing what we wanted our year to be about and how we could communicate this. Then the random comment came "maybe something like every day starts today". The idea sounded good, and after further group discussions, considering different options, how we could add onto the message, we concluded that our team stand would be simply... "Every day starts today".

It is a simple message, but one that communicates our ambition to drive forward the achievement of AIESEC 2010 and be those pioneers. The moral of the story... sometimes the simplest ideas have the greatest potential to transform your LC, your MC, or even the world. Trust your brilliance and run with those idea!

(And it always helps to have a good graphic designer like Gee on the team to make things look good for you!)

AI Poker Nights
Poker nights are IN :)
Yesterday night, our house (Ryan, Ildi, Ondro, me) led by Ondro - the born casino player had organized a Poker night.

It was a perfect setting as you can see below. Everything was there...

Cigars, Whiskey, a professional Poker set, a shady room with the only two sources of illumination focussed on the poker table, men in black suits and ladies in black as well :), willingness to bet high and big, and the much required entrepreneurial attitude.

Just before the night began

Let the games begin!
The setup

High intensity period

It was indeed a lot of fun. The evening started at 21 00 and ended about 2 30 AM in the morning when the last person standing had all the money and all the other people were wiped out (strangely it was me - I have never won a bingo in my life and this was a pleasant surprise, but it was insane with the last few rounds of insane betting)

I am sure there are going to be more poker nights in our house!
